Open Enrollment starts Monday, October 12th through Friday, November 13th.

The tobacco surcharge will be applied again to everyone, whether they are a smoker or nonsmoker, this time it includes SPOUSES who smoke. Everyone will need to actively go in and either identify themselves and spouse as a smoker or nonsmoker. If you are a smoker you will again need to take the Tobacco Cessation course.

As you may have seen, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that AT&T is exploring the sale of just over 50% of DIRECTV to private equity.  Apparently this move is being driven by Stankey, the new CEO.  Another report this morning on CNBC stated that the company is not discussing a sale to DISH, but that private equity could explore a tie-up with DISH down the road.  I have listed the article below:


The proposed bylaw changes are as follows:

Pg 7, Art. 8 Sect 1A: remove the ability of the president to hire a paid full time secretary at his discretion.

Pg 7, Art. 8 Sect 1C & 1D: Split secretary/treasurer into two separate offices with separate responsibilities to add in flow of work.

Pg 7, Art. 8 Sect 1D: Reinstate officer's expense pay for the local secretary, 15hrs per month, BST Wage Scale 32

We will open the local for anyone who would like to attend the September 8th meeting at the union hall and observe the zoom call.

Please be advised that there will be a vote held for proposed bylaw changes during the September 8, 2020 monthly meeting.


Bylaws may be amended by either of the following methods:

  • By a majority of the members in a Local meeting, if the proposed amendment has been introduced at a previous membership meeting or has been advertised to the membership by use of the Bulletin Board at least fifteen (15) days in advance of the meeting.
  • By a referendum of the membership.
